How should traditional industries develop in a green way? Simply put, there are two ways. One is to upgrade and transform the current equipment production line to produce less carbon dioxide; Another way is to collect the carbon dioxide generated during the production process, prevent it from being emitted into the atmosphere, and then find a place to bury the carbon dioxide.
The reporter learned from CNOOC that China's first offshore carbon dioxide storage project has buried over 50 million cubic meters of carbon dioxide. Where did these carbon dioxide come from and how did they get buried at the bottom of the sea? Let's go to the scene together and take a look.
CCTV reporter Zhang Wei: I am currently located about 200 kilometers southwest of Shenzhen on the Enping 15-1 platform, the largest offshore oil production platform in Asia. This is also the location of China's first offshore carbon dioxide storage demonstration project. About 120000 cubic meters of carbon dioxide are stored here and stored at the bottom of the sea every day, which can fill nearly 60000 bottles of carbon dioxide fire extinguishers.

The so-called carbon dioxide storage and reinjection refers to the direct injection of captured carbon dioxide into onshore or seabed saline water layers within a depth range of 800 to 3500 meters underground through engineering techniques. It is an internationally recognized and effective measure to promote carbon reduction.
The staff told reporters that the Enping Carbon Dioxide Storage Demonstration Project is to process the carbon dioxide associated with oilfield development through equipment such as high carbon crude oil production wells, production processing systems, carbon dioxide compressors, and molecular sieve dehydration sleds on the platform to a supercritical state. Finally, it is injected back into a "dome" geological structure located 3 kilometers away from the platform and 800 meters below the seabed through a reinjection well, achieving long-term stable storage.
Yue Zongling, Production Manager of Enping Oilfield of CNOOC Shenzhen Branch: The entire carbon dioxide storage system consists of 6 major systems and 28 individual equipment, just like our human "organs". We follow the principle of "specialization, system, and equipment" to achieve panoramic operation and precise diagnosis of each equipment. Currently, the equipment has safely operated for over 10000 hours.
The reporter saw on site that technicians were conducting research on the processing equipment and process flow on site, exploring process routes such as carbon dioxide flooding, and making relevant plans for further utilization of carbon dioxide in the future. It is estimated that this injection well can store about 300000 tons of carbon dioxide annually.
