Sources of ozone in swimming pools
The source of swimming pool ozone is mainly by the ozone generator installed in the swimming pool.
Ozone O3 is obtained by electrolyzing oxygen in the air.
Advantages of ozone disinfection
Ozone is currently recognized as the most perfect disinfectant, because the main product after the disinfection reaction is oxygen, which does not cause secondary pollutants.
Ozone properties
- Ozone is denser than air and has poor water solubility
- Oxidizing is one of the strongest gases in nature
- Ozone is harmful to human body
According to the National Ambient Air Quality Standards (NAAQS), the limit of acceptable ozone concentration for humans in one hour is 260 μg/m3. Activity in 320μg/m3 ozone environment for 1h will cause cough, dyspnea and decreased lung function. People who have been exposed to high concentrations of ozone directly for a long time experience fatigue, cough, chest tightness, chest pain, wrinkled skin, nausea and headache.
Therefore, the requirement for ozone content in the swimming pool water quality standard is

The concentration of 20 cm above the water surface of the swimming pool does not exceed 0.2 mg per cubic meter.
Due to this limit, the swimming pool has to control the reaction rate of the ozone generator to control the supply of ozone.
In the actual operation process, since the ozone concentration is quantitative, the number of swimmers in the swimming pool will increase in a short period of time in summer, which will involve the bacterial treatment speed being lower than the pollution speed, resulting in poor disinfection and the possibility of turbid and white water.
At the same time, ozone is affected by the pH value and water temperature of the swimming pool. The higher the pH and the higher the temperature, the faster the ozone decomposes. If this defect can be reconciled, ozone is undoubtedly the best disinfectant in swimming pools.
