The use of argon in industry:
- Argon is an odorless, five poisonous, and odorless gas, which cannot burn or support combustion. At room temperature, it will not react chemically with other substances, and its chemical properties are inactive and stable.
- Argon will not dissolve in liquid metal at high temperature, and it can highlight its advantages when welding non-ferrous metals. Argon is usually used as a shielding gas for welding to prevent the welding objects from being oxidized and nitrided by air.
- In the industry, argon is mainly used for inflating bulbs and arc welding of stainless steel, aluminum, magnesium, etc. When discharged, argon gas emits a purple glow, which can be used as lighting technology, filling fluorescent lamps (and photocells, lighting tubes), etc.
- Argon can also be used as a filler in the beer barrel to prevent the raw materials in the barrel from being oxidized to acetic acid. Of course, in the heat treatment, argon gas can be used instead of ammonia gas, so that the effect will be better and the object will not be easily broken.
Emergency measures for argon leakage:
- If a large amount of leakage occurs, it is necessary to divide the warning area according to the influence area of the gas, and the personnel unrelated to the emergency should be evacuated to the safe area in the upwind direction;
- Emergency personnel should wear positive pressure self-contained breathing apparatus and work clothes. If it is liquefied gas, you need to wear cold clothing;
- When handling, cut off the source of leakage as much as possible, and keep the leaking place ventilated. Leaked argon can be vented into the air.
Argon storage safety requirements:
- Argon gas needs to be stored in a cool, ventilated warehouse dedicated to non-combustible gas, and away from fire and heat sources;
- The temperature in the warehouse should not exceed 30 degrees Celsius, and it should be stored separately from flammable objects and must not be mixed;
- Prepare leakage emergency treatment equipment in the storage warehouse.
